How Long is This Going to Take?

I'm glad you asked! I realized a long time ago that TIME is our most precious resource. I understand that not everyone is as interested in becoming a super-techie like me, so I trimmed this class down to "just the really useful stuff" -- just what you need to get those pages done and get them up onto the web site.

During this course, you can get a simple site up and running in less than 30 days, even if you've never created a single web page. I'm going to give you lots of shortcuts to getting those pages done, but I am also going to teach you the behind-the-scenes HTML so that you're never "stuck" because something isn't working the way you expected it to. Here are answers to some of the common questions I receive about this course:

Are you really starting from the beginning? Yes, we're going to start by deciding why you want to have a web site in the first place. We'll talk about selecting domain names and where to host your site. I'll ask you to choose some designs you like from other web sites, as well as colors and fonts to match. We'll talk about what makes a web site usable and accessible, then we'll start constructing pages. You don't have to be a computer whiz to take this class, but you will be learning some new skills. Do I need to buy professional web design software like Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression Web for this class? No, in fact I have some free and low-cost alternatives you can use instead and we'll go over those selections during the first session. We're going to start out by using a plain text editor to keep things very simple. Is this class for both Windows and Macintosh users?  Yes, definitely! Everything I teach in this class can be done on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Macintosh OS-X. I will be demonstrating on Windows XP. If I miss a session, how can I view it afterwards? You can download the webinar recording (audio and video) from our password-protected web site and view it on your hard drive.

What If I Need Some Extra Help?
